Review: Married by Monday (The Weekday Brides #2) by Catherine Bybee

Carter Billings:
With sandy blond hair and Hollywood good looks, Carter could have any woman he wants. When he makes his bid for governor of California, he knows he must settle down and become a family man. His choice for a running mate between the sheets: matchmaker Eliza Havens.

Eliza Havens:
Eliza’s happy that her best friend has a wealthy, adoring husband. It’s the husband’s best friend — sexy, dashing Carter Billings — that drives her crazy. No man has ever squabbled with Eliza this much…or made her heart race this fast. Matching couples is how she earns a living, but long-held secrets mean getting married isn’t an option. Until now.

Review:
Since Carter and Eliza's best friends are married they run in to each other often, which mostly leads to sarcastic and witty discussions. It's not that they don't like each other, it is rather the opposite. Though they believe it is best not to act upon it. Which is just silly you know.

When one of Eliza's secrets nearly get revealed it is clear she needs some protection. Besides an adorable K9 dog, named Zod, Carter makes it his mission to take care of her. And what better way to do this than to get married. It would not only help his career, but it would also help with Eliza's much needed protection and Carter's peace of mind.

So while they pretend these are the only reasons they would do such a thing, this won't stop the attraction between them. Seems that being married is easier than they thought and as long as Eliza's past doesn't catch up with her, this might actually work.

I really like Eliza's background as I did not expect it at all. The things she has seen and been through are heartbreaking. Though she doesn't let it get her down and we get to see this whole other side of her.

Carter is a real charmer, but somehow that doesn't work with Eliza. He cares about her and isn't afraid to pursue what he wants, which in this case is Eliza. The man has to work for it and then the reward is even sweeter than he could ever imagine. Also he was very, very protective over Eliza. Which was simply adorable and not something you would immediately expect from a future governor. I loved that Eliza, his friends and family come first.

Married By Wednesday is the second book in the series and I liked it more than the first. The touch of mystery and drama, took it up a notch and I enjoyed it very much.

I recommend reading Wife By Wednesday first before reading this one. The characters from the previous story are very present here, which I love, though if you haven't read it, this might be confusing for you. I actually recommend reading the entire series, they are super fun and fast reads.
