Music Monday (Mar. 10)

Music Monday is a weekly book meme. Everyone can join in, you just have to do the following:
  • Choose a book or a scene from a book.
  • Choose a song that fits said book or scene.
  • Tell us why you paired them together.
  • Don't forget to share the title and author.
  • Be careful not to include spoilers!

In Full Measures by Rebecca Yarros Ember's dad dies overseas. First I was looking more at songs involving the loss of soldier, but the ones I came across did not seem fitting here, because most of them were about the soldiers and not the family they leave behind. Then I stumbled upon Miss You by Avril Lavigne and with a few simple words she makes it all clear. This song is for Ember's family and all of those who have lost someone. Also that tiny sliver of hoping this might not be real, feels very fitting with the beginning of the book, where they're hoping this is just a nightmare they can wake up from.

With this song everything just clicks together for me.

If you don't have a blog and want to participate just share your links to the book and song in the comments.

  1. Great song choice! I grew up to some of her music so it's nice to hear the oldies.
