#WattpadWednesday: Breaking Jacob (The Breaking Series #2) by Nicole Sturgill

Wattpad Wednesday is a new weekly meme, where I review books that originated on Wattpad. So it can be published now and removed from Wattpad or currently still on this site. There is some crazy talent on that website and through this I want to help spread the word :)

The Breaking series by Nicole Sturgill is definitely one of my favourites from Wattpad. I've been following her stories for a while now and if you're into historical westerns (think lots and lots of hot cowboys and outlaws), you'll like her work.

This is the second story in the Breaking Series. Jacob Atkinson is lonely and longs for a woman he can call his own. Then along comes Alice and she is just what he's been waiting for. The only problem is her names isn't really Alice and she is a con artist who is used to making men fall in love with her and taking everything they had. Will she be able to keep her secret under Brody's watchful eyes and will Jacob's love and the love of his family finally be enough for her to change her ways and reach out to them for help?

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Honestly I had totally forgotten about this story until Jacob was introduced in Breaking The Rules and even then I only remembered that he had his own story. While Brody was out doing his thing, Jacob stayed home and took care of their sisters. Jacob actually raised them and it wasn't easy. It was very hard work to make ends meet and making sure there was food on the table. With his focus constantly on his sisters, he didn't have much time for anything else.

Now that they've all moved, there is a lot less to worry about and Jacob starts realizing he's feeling lonely. He's even a bit jealous of his brother, because Brody was able to find himself a woman to love and Jacob wants that as well. Living in a small town does kind of limit his options, but when Elizabeth hires a nanny, things start looking a lot brighter.

Alice has a bad feeling about this latest job. She's good at what she does, but robbing a sheriff is something different and very risky. What she definitely didn't plan on was falling for one of her marks. Jacob is everything she has ever dreamed of wanting in a man, but when he finds out she's been lying about her identity things might not go over so well.

Everything between the two main characters moves kind of fast, but I'm thinking that back in the day you didn't waste much time as you never know what was going to happen, so I'll let that slide. Jacob is not my favourite character in the series. He sees things his way and never leaves any room for another opinion. So he's extremely stubborn and once you screw up, forgiveness isn't much of an option.

Alice is a result of her upbringing, though I won't go into that as it is much more fun to discover that yourself. There are not a lot of options for a young woman to make money and stealing from the rich is a bit Robin Hood like. Doing this for so long though has taken a toll on her and she wants out, but of course it's not that easy. I did like her character. She's not a bad person, never really harms and she deserves the life she really wants.

Overall a fun story, with plenty of drama and certainly some action. I really like this family and it's nice to see some of the other characters return. There were some new characters we got to know as well and they'll be getting their own story.

The Author
I am a mother of three and wife to an incredible man who makes creating strong and loving male characters in my stories easy. When I’m not chasing my children, spending time with my husband, or taking care of one of my eight animals (including a tortoise, a bearded dragon and a ball python), I am writing. Living in a small Kentucky town, which requires a twenty-five minute drive to simply find a traffic light, creates the need to find escapes and writing does that for me. At times when I’m not writing, I also enjoy four wheeling, hiking, hunting, and spending lots of time outdoors. Life is a constant inspiration and so, I try to live it to the fullest!
