Review & Giveaway: Breakdown by Ellie Grace

Amy Porter has had a thing for her twin brother’s best friend since she was a teenager. After being considered “one of the boys” throughout her childhood, he’s the first guy to look at her and see past the tomboy she used to be. Unfortunately, he’s also completely off-limits. She does her best to move on as the years go by, but it’s not until her life takes a drastic turn that she finally accepts the fact that they aren’t meant to be. However, as her world crumbles around her, Nate always seems to be close by to help her pick up the pieces.

Nate Miller knows that Amy is the one girl he can never have. No matter how badly he wants her, he won’t risk destroying his friendship, or the promise he made to look out for her when her brother goes overseas with the Marines. As life continues to get in the way and keep them apart, the only logical choice is to give up… but giving up is the last thing he wants to do.

With so many obstacles stacked up against them, can they find a way to make it work or are they headed for a breakdown?

We met Amy and Nate in Break Away and if you haven't read that book, no worries, this will even be more fun as you have no certain idea of what is coming. The things is they both have had feelings for each other since they were teenagers, though never really acted on that, because Amy is his best friend's sister. Nate doesn't have a lot of family so he considers Dax like a brother and therefor Amy is forbidden.

We follow Amy and Nate over the years, from that first crush to real love. They've known each other for a long time and there were a couple of moments where they gave in, but in the end they always stopped. This leaving both of them actually a bit heartbroken. Seeing and being around the one you, while never really being together.

They've tried to move on, but it seems that fate keeps pushing them back together. Honestly it's like one of them needs to man up and just go for it, don't accept 'no' for an answer. There are some hurdles to overcome, but they are not unreasonable.

I always have some trouble with companion novels like this. Because I've already read the other book, I know how this is going to end. Though if you read this one first, you'll know how Break Away will end. Still it was well written and I very much liked Amy and Nate. While reading Break Away, I have to admit I was curious about their story and I was glad to see all that had happened in the past that led them to this point.

So it was a great companion novel. It was fun to get to know Amy and Nate better. Looking back on everything I am happy how everything turned out, but it almost seems a bit silly it had to take so long. You know they belong together, their feelings were so strong, it's just their fear holding them back. It's time for them to take a leap of faith and give it their all.
